Ben F. Locke, Jr., attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville for undergraduate study and was graduated from the University of Tennesse College of Dentistry in 1969. He practiced general dentistry in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for seven and a half years prior to his additional training in graduate endodontics. He received his Certificate in Endodontics and his Masters of Science in Dentistry Degree from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry in 1979.
He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, Tennessee Academy of Endodontists, Southern Endodontic Study Group, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Nashville Dental society, and Music City Dental Study Group.
Dr. Locke enjoys staying on the cutting edge of endodontics. He was the first endodontist in the state to use the surgical operating microscope and to incorporate the latest digital radiography and instrumentation for root canal therapy.
Away from the office, he utilizes his dental education by volunteering for medical-dental mission trips to South America. His wife, Lucy, and their four sons have also served with him on the mission trips. During his leisure time, Dr. Locke enjoys being with his family, playing golf, and playing with his four grandchildren. He has two grandsons and finally after four sons and two grandsons, he has two beautiful grandaughters.
After 39 years of dentistry, Dr. Locke still loves to practice endodontics. Someone once asked him "doesn't performing endodontic procedures all day get boring?" He stated, yes that is a possibility, but it is the "personalities" which are attached to the teeth that make it fun.
